DECEMBER 2024
A&M Industrial Is New Jersey's 2024 Family Business Of The Year
On December 12, 2024, A&M Industrial was honored as the 2024 Family-Owned Business of the Year by NJBIZ, New Jersey’s leading business journal. The NJBIZ Business of the Year program recognizes companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to the state’s business community through innovation and commitment. A&M Industrial expressed pride in being nominated alongside other dedicated family-owned businesses and was deeply honored to win the title in the 100+ employee category.
A&M Industrial has been an independent, family-owned business for over 70 years. Originating as a small hardware store in Newark, the company has grown into a global distributor with a strong presence along the East Coast. A&M has built its reputation on fostering relationships and delivering unparalleled support during crises, establishing itself as a leader in both the industry and the community. Following A&M’s assistance after 9/11, Con Edison commended the company’s extraordinary efforts, writing, “The effort seen in the battle zone was only possible due to the Herculean effort on the part of your company.”
“I think the most memorable and impactful times have been during times of crises,” said A&M Industrial President David Young. “When the World Trade Center collapsed, our company was called upon for all types of emergency equipment and we were open for eight straight days, 24 hours a day… I never had to ask anybody to come in. Similarly in 2012, after Superstorm Sandy, our team worked tirelessly – with no lights or computer systems – to get critical components into the hands of utility companies working to restore power to the region. During the pandemic, we sourced PPE from around the world to distribute to local hospitals and government facilities. For three generations, A&M Industrial has been a company– and a team– that you can rely on.”
Beyond business, A&M Industrial is committed to making a difference in the community. The company established the Monica K. Young Foundation, which to date has raised more than $235,000 to support ovarian cancer treatment, research, and support services. Partnering with national and local charitable organizations, as well as vocational schools, A&M Industrial has a longstanding tradition of giving back to the communities it serves.
Looking ahead, A&M Industrial is poised for continued innovation. In 2022, the company launched its automation division, led by Chief Operating Officer Josh Young, son of David Young and grandson of founder Arny Young. This division focuses on robotics and advanced manufacturing technologies, positioning A&M Industrial as a leader in cutting-edge solutions. The company plans to open a state-of-the-art headquarters and distribution center in Cranbury in 2026, further cementing its dedication to New Jersey’s manufacturing sector.
